Construction of Boatshed & Observation Deck
The Coomba Aquatic Club are pleased to announce that work starts this week on the long anticipate Boatshed and Observation Deck; the first of
three stages that will ultimately provide a Boatshed, an Observation Deck, a Club Room, Kitchen & Toilets. The Club have a management role over
the 9 Ha “Coomba Aquatic Gardens” through an agreed Plan of Management with MidCoast Council & NSW Dept. of Lands first entered into in
1994 and updated in 2004. The Club Members have progressively rehabilitated the Reserve to a show piece in the MCC area and provided significant infrastructure on the reserve for public & community use. This stage of the development continues that objective with the Observation Deck on top of
the Boatshed ensuring that no loss of amenity occurs with visitors to the reserve having enhanced access to the panoramic views from the Aquatic
Garden’s out into Wallis Lake towards Wallis Island, Yahoo Island and beyond. The Boatshed construction is anticipated to take approximately three months, opening in September in time for the 2017-18 Sailing Season.

  The Boatshed construction is estimated to cost $207,000 with Members contributing $79,000. NSW Government Grant funding of $128,000, topping up Members Funds, makes this project achievable.
